Before you start.
JPG and JPEG name the same image format. Citrus labels the destination JPEG; its output can use the .jpeg extension. A JPEG copy can be useful when a destination accepts JPEG but does not accept your HEIC photo. It is a new export: check its appearance and metadata for the use you have in mind.
Install the Citrus Windows preview and use a nonessential example first. Download the photo to your PC if it is an online-only cloud placeholder. The still-image workflow does not support animated or multipage sources.
HEIC availability depends on the preview’s validated local codec capability. If the app does not offer the conversion for your input, use the troubleshooting notes below.
Create the JPEG copy.
- Open the workspace. Launch Citrus and choose Open workspace. This route does not require a drag gesture.
- Add one local HEIC photo. Use Add files… or drop the file into the workspace. Start with a single image so a mixed selection does not hide the destination.
- Choose Convert, then JPEG. Select the available JPEG image destination, then choose Create copy to submit the conversion. Ordinary format conversions use the engine’s presets; review any confirmation or settings the app presents.
- Read the per-file result. Wait for the job to complete and look for its actual output name and location. If a filename already exists, Citrus chooses a collision-safe name.
- Open and inspect the new file. Check that the result is a JPEG, then compare its orientation, colors and detail with the original. Open it in the destination app before relying on it.
This creates a separate output file. It does not move the HEIC source. Move originals… is a different, explicit operation.
Check what the destination needs.
A format change can affect image quality, color, transparency and metadata. Do not assume that every field or image property will carry across. If dimensions or compression need a deliberate adjustment, use the corresponding image tool and check that output too.
Keep the original HEIC and a backup of important photographs. The new JPEG is a useful working copy, rather than a substitute for checking the source and export.
If JPEG is missing or the job fails.
Try one fully downloaded, locally stored still image. Available destinations follow the complete selection, so an unrelated file or folder can change the choices. Read the exact job or repair message instead of changing the extension by hand.
Some files can be damaged or use unsupported features. If the same problem occurs with a nonprivate example, report the Citrus version, Windows version, source type, operation and message. Do not attach a private photo to a public issue.
